I agree with Harold Perrineau that the relation between Michael and Walt could have been done so much better. Michael's falling out with Walt and his heroic redemption could have been one of the stronger storylines. But I think somewhere in the middle of season two the producers panicked and realized they were going to get caught in the "puberty trap" with the kid playing Walt suddenly growing several years worth in what was supposed to be several months time. They had to essentially jettison a key character (I really think Walt was supposed to be central) for continuity's sake. Bummer.
I also agree it was one of the weaker finales. I may be in the minority in believing it's because of the fewer flashes. The flashes usually build suspense during the hour because you know there's going to be an interesting payoff to all the little snippets in the final flash. The flashes in season finale 4 were too discombobulated, few and far between with little continuity. So in the end it was kind of like, okay yeah so what? And then boom you see Jeremy Benthem's dead body...you're like whah hit me?
